Matthew Whitaker Sherrod was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. Mr. Sherrod graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee, where he was Phi Beta Kappa, earning a Bachelor of Arts. He was heavily involved in both academic and extracurricular organizations during his time at Tennessee. Upon graduation from the University of Tennessee, Mr. Sherrod attended law school at the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2008. While in law school, Mr. Sherrod was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, as well as a contributing editor to the Sports and Entertainment Newsletter and the recipient of the Professor Walton W. Garrett Scholarship. Mr. Sherrod was also elected to serve in various leadership roles within the Student Bar Association at the University of Memphis including serving as the President of the student body his final year. Mr. Sherrod focuses his practice in areas of business, corporate, and real estate matters, as well as civil litigation. Mr. Sherrod’s hobbies include a multitude of outdoor sports, music, and travel. He is an avid Tennessee sports fan.
